[ METAL INFO ]

SILVER PLATED: sterling silver layer, plated over a base metal, usually copper.

TIBETAN SILVER is a metal alloy made of zinc, copper and tin. It is lead free and nickel free and will be OK for most people with sensitive skin.

PEWTER is a soft metal alloy, mostly tin with a bit of copper, that has a darker 'antique silver' look. It will bend with a bit of force.

RHODIUM PLATED: Chrome-like, precious metal with high shine. Most 'white gold' is rhodium plated.

STEEL AND STAINLESS STEEL chains do have a small nickel content, avoid products with this metal if you have any nickel or metal allergies

BRASS AND BRONZE
Brass is made of copper and zinc. Bronze is made of copper and tin. These are nickel-free.

★ ALL JEWELRY TARNISHES ★

EVERYTHING that comes in contact with your jewelry, such as AIR, SUNLIGHT, BODY OILS (the natural oils that your body produces), DIRT, HOUSEHOLD CHEMICALS (especially bleach!!), and FOOD (you touch your food, then your hands touch your jewelry), will cause TARNISHING. This is NOT RUST, and all that is required to remove is a little care and cleaning.

[ JEWELRY CARE ]
In addition to tarnishing, all costume and plated jewelry will fade or change color over time (or sometimes very quickly!) There are ways to slow this process down:

★AIM TO MINIMIZE THE CONTACT BETWEEN YOUR JEWELRY AND SKIN

★ Do not wear your jewelry to bed, or in the shower.

★ Keep away from perfumes and body lotions, especially sunscreen

★ Use a dry jewelry polishing cloth to shine and clean after EACH WEAR.
(Jewelry cloths are fairly inexpensive and last for years. You can get them at Walmart, or any jewelry store)

★ Store away from sunlight, dampness and open air
Best way to store them is in the re-sealable baggie they were packaged in.

Too Much Acid In Your Body Will Make Your Skin React With Your Jewelry [ Source: http://myhealthandliving.com/too-much-acid-in-your-body-will-make-your-skin-react-with-your-jewelry/ ]

Changes in your body chemistry may cause a reaction between your skin and the jewelry that you’re wearing. This is because of the presence of sulfur/sulfides and amino acids that could be found in perspiration. The acidic nature of your sweat will often cause discolorations to your skin and/or your jewelry and may cause some of your fabulous pieces to fade.

Your body chemistry is one of the main factors that will make your skin react with your jewelry. This may change as a result of hormonal changes, particularly during adolescence. Chemotherapy or the use of certain medications such as antibiotics can also affect your body’s chemistry. The components in some of the cosmetics that you use, such as creams and lotions, can accelerate the tarnishing of silver or lower karat gold jewelry.

Skin discoloration happens when too much acid in your body causes your skin to react with your jewelry. Silver and gold jewelry can turn your skin color green, not because of the type of jewelry you wore or how expensive (or inexpensive) the piece may be, but it is because of the high level of acidity in your body. This especially happens when it is hot and humid outside. Oxidation causes your skin to turn green when it reacts to silver jewelry and gives it a tarnished appearance.

Usually, gold jewelry does not turn the skin green, but this happens when gold is mixed with other metals like silver, copper, and nickel. This is done to make the jewelry more durable and more affordable.

To prevent skin discoloration, some jewelry makers create silver and white gold jewelry pieces incorporated with rhodium to add a defensive layer and prevents the reaction to the alloy.

Copper jewelry may or may not cause a green discoloration to your skin due to your metabolism. Chelated copper deposits react to your body chemistry and give your skin a green stain.

Other inexpensive jewelry that contains nickel can also result in green skin. Although nickel is not detrimental to health in small quantities, it may cause an allergic reaction to some people and result in red and itchy skin, in addition to the discoloration.

Sterling silver, on the other hand, is 7.5% copper. However, this does not give the skin a green stain. Instead, it causes a black stain because of the tarnishing of the metal. Cleaning this type of jewelry frequently should prevent this reaction.

[ Ways to Keep Jewelry from Staining Your Skin ]
Keep your skin dry when wearing jewelry.
Wear offending pieces for only a short time.
Keep your jewelry clean and tarnish-free.

You'll greatly reduce the chance of any ring turning your finger green if you take care to keep soap, lotions and other chemicals away from your ring. Remove your rings before bathing or swimming, especially in saltwater.

Some people apply a polymer coating to their rings to act as a barrier between their skin and the metal of the ring. Nail polish is one option. Be aware you'll need to reapply the coating from time to time, since it will wear away.

★ CLEANSING GEMSTONE /CRYSTAL NECKLACES★
~the short version~

For any crystal that is affixed to a wire or piece of metal, I would recommend DRY cleansing methods only.
****DO NOT USE SALT OR SALTWATER FOR CLEANSING PENDANTS****
★A little plain water would be fine, but take care to dry the piece quickly.
★I do not recommend soaking your crystals.
★Sunlight, moonlight, incense/smoke, dirt/soil or the non-contact salt method are appropriate for cleansing your crystal pendants.
Sunlight can change the color of some crystals like Amethyst, be sure to read up on which ones!
..................................................................................................
The long version:
[the following has been reposted from:: http://crystalgems.co.uk/cleansing.html]
No infringement intended

When you first obtain crystals or have been using them for some time, or even if they have been left sitting around somewhere, they will have absorbed a range of different energies that they will have been exposed to by yourself and others who may have handled them and transferred various energies and emotions into them.

Therefore, it's important to 'cleanse' your crystals as soon as you obtain them, and on a regular basis (daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, depending on use) however, you may have been given a crystal as a gift from someone who may have programmed it specially for you with specific energies. In this case the stone may not need this initial cleansing.

This cleansing process isn't a 'physical' cleaning with soap and water, but intended to cleanse the stone of its stored energies, both good and bad, which can be released again by the stone at any time and once it becomes loaded with energy. Crystals used specifically for healing should be cleansed before and after use.

Several cleansing methods are recommended, they are:

★1) Salt Water
[ DO NOT USE SALT OR SALTWATER FOR CLEANSING PENDANTS.]

Suitable crystals can be left to soak in sea water or water mixed with sea salt. Cooking salt can also be used if sea salt/water is not available. You should fill a glass bowl (not metal) about half to one third full and place your crystals so they are fully submerged in the salt water for anywhere between 1 to 24 hours. Many people leave them in salt water overnight but a crystal that needs a much deeper and more thorough cleansing can be left for up to 1 week. You should thoroughly rinse your crystals in cool running water after spending time in salt water to remove any remaining salt. After use, the salt water must be flushed away and never re-used because it will have absorbed negative and unwanted energies.

Salt water cleansing is considered one of the best and most thorough ways to cleanse crystals, but please be aware that this method must be avoided for certain crystals as it can have an adverse effect on them and even change their appearance and properties! Stones that should not be soaked in salt water include crystals that are porous, contain metal or have a water content, for example Opal. Stones and minerals that should be kept away from salt include Pyrite, Lapis Lazuli, Opal, Hematite, etc.

★2) Dry Salt
[ DO NOT USE SALT OR SALTWATER FOR CLEANSING PENDANTS.]
Another salt method is to half-fill a glass bowl with sea salt (or cooking salt) and place your crystals directly into the salt. Either bury them into the dry salt or leave them on the surface. They should be left in the salt for several hours, overnight or for several days. Your crystals should then be rinsed thoroughly under cool running water to remove any remaining salt. After use, the salt must be thrown away and never re-used because it will have absorbed negative and unwanted energies.

Again, take care when placing your crystals directly onto dry salt as the salt can have an adverse effect on certain crystals, as explained above.

★3) Non-Contact Salt

This is considered the safest salt-cleansing method and should be used where the crystals may otherwise be damaged by direct contact with salt. This is also a good method if you are cleansing gem stones found in jewellery or gems surrounded by metal.

First, fill a glass bowl half to two thirds full with dry sea salt (or cooking salt). Then place a smaller glass container or shallow drinking glass and half-bury this glass into the salt. You can then place your crystals directly into the empty glass which is sitting half buried in the dry salt. The salt will still be able to draw out the stored energies within the stones but this method will take longer to work than direct contact with salt. You may also pour just enough water (preferably pure, distilled or mineral water) into the smaller glass container, just enough to cover the crystals. This will protect them and prevent direct 'salt exposure' or 'salty air' from causing any corrosion or adverse effects to any metals or other fittings that may surround the gems. Also, bear in mind that certain crystals should not be left to soak in water.

The used salt should be thrown away and never re-used.

★4) Crystal Druse, Bed, Geode or Cluster

All crystals can be cleansed safely by placing them inside an Amethyst Geode Cave overnight or for 24-48 hours. An Amethyst Druse, Cluster, or Bed can also be used in the same way. A Clear Quartz Geode, Bed or Cluster provides a faster cleansing process than Amethyst, but both methods are equally as effective. Simply place no more than a few crystals onto the crystal points and leave for anything up to 24-48 hours. These crystal cluster formations (both Amethyst and Quartz) have the ability to absorb the energies contained within crystals, neutralise the energies and then release 'good' energy from the cluster back into the crystals being cleansed, so they can effectively cleanse and energise at the same time.

★5) Smoke cleansing

Another popular method of cleansing crystals is by smoke cleansing This involves burning either White Sage or Incense Sticks and holding the crystals in the smoke to cleanse the stored energies. Several types of incense are specifically recommended for this because, when burned, they release certain elements into the air via the smoke which can effectively remove bad and built-up energies. The following incense sticks are particularly recommended for effective smudging: Sage and Sweetgrass, Sandalwood or Cedarwood (available from our Web Store). A feather can be used to fan the smoke across the crystals and this only needs to be done for a short amount of time. 20 to 30 seconds should be long enough.

★6) Visualisation

You can also use visualisation or 'thought energy' to cleanse crystals. Simply hold the crystal, focus on it, and visualise a bright white light surrounding the crystal, followed by a beam of white light coming down through the stone, passing all the way through the stone, taking away stored energy within the stone. Do this until you feel happy that the white light has done its job and flushed away the stored energies. The 'thought energy' generated by you will be transmitted to the stone and this cleansing energy will do the job of clearing the stone of its stored energies.

Energising

Once your crystal has been cleansed you will need to energise it again so that it can continue to release its own natural vibrations and energies. There are several ways to energise crystals and the most popular methods are as follows:

★1) Water Energising

Allow your crystals to sit in a drinking glass or bowl under cool running tap water for several minutes, 10-20 minutes should be long enough. If you are near to a natural running river, stones can be placed in an open mesh bag and left for a short time in the natural running water. Running water can also cleanse as well as energise the stones at the same time.

Please check that your crystal can be emerged safely in water, since some should not be left to soak in water as this can have an adverse effect on them. Specifically, porous stones or those with high metal content.

★2) Sunshine and Moonlight

The natural energies transmitted by the Sun and Moon can also energise your crystals with natural energies. Many people like to leave their newly cleansed stones under Moonlight and Sunlight for a day or two to allow them to absorb the different energies from the Moon and Sun. The Sun provides a stronger energy, whereas the Moon has a more gentle energy.

When leaving crystals in Sunlight, please be aware that some coloured stones may fade over a period of time if left in strong sunlight too often. This can happen with Amethyst, for example. In this case, try not to leave your crystals in strong sun for more than an hour or so. To be on the safe side, place in sunlight during sunrise and/or sunset because the sun's rays won't be as strong during these times of the day.

★3) Physical Contact

Native Americans believe that it's not always necessary to energise crystals with any of the above methods because they will naturally energise themselves from our body's own energy field when they are picked up and handled, or rubbed between the palms of the hands. So this is another method you may want to consider.

Feel free to do whatever you feel is best for you and your crystals, or you may wish to use one or all the above methods when energising your own crystals.

Programming Crystals

Before starting, you may want to clear the room and yourself of extra or unwanted energies by using a cleansing Smudging Stick or Incense.

To program a crystal for specific use or with specific energies, sit quietly away from distractions or strong electrical devices and external energies, then hold the crystal in front of you, clear your mind and focus on the stone. Give the crystal a cleanse with white light as explained above. Concentrate on the specific energy that you wish to program the crystal with, and 'transmit' the energies and thoughts from your mind directly to the stone. Be clear and direct when doing this and don't try to confuse or overload the crystal with different thoughts and energies. Do this until you feel happy that the required thoughts and energies have been transmitted to the stone.

Q: DOES THE DIRECTION YOU WEAR THE POINT ON A CRYSTAL MATTER?
When a crystal has a point on it and you wear it on a pendant, does it matter if the crystal points up or down?

A: The point on the crystal helps to direct the flow of energy. So if you want the energy to flow towards you then I would wear the point facing up. This will draw energy from the earth and the other elements and direct the flow of positive energy towards you.

If you want to release some energy (for instance, if you are trying to release and transform negative or damaging energy), then you would want to wear the point heading down towards the ground. You can visualize the energy going through the crystal, out of the crystal point, and into the ground where it can be transformed into positive energy.

However you wear the crystal, it will benefit you in the best possible way - even if it is not facing in the direction that you think might be the best. I also think following your intuition is an excellent guideline. How does it feel when you wear it pointing up or down? The crystal and your instincts will guide you towards the best way to wear it.

Crystal Blessings!

★ WHAT ARE METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES.

"Metaphysical properties" is a phrase frequently used to describe the belief that gemstones carry the power to create direct spiritual, supernatural and physical changes in people and their environments. Belief in the ability of gemstone materials to bring peace, health, protection and spiritual favor goes back beyond recorded history. This collected information, sometimes called "lore," comes from folk medicine, mythology, religious belief and other sources.
Both gemstone type and gemstone color can determine metaphysical properties. Red gemstones such as red spinel, garnet and ruby are frequently grouped into stones affiliated with romantic love. Black stones--such as jet, obsidian and black onyx--are used to indicate formal mourning in Western societies. Different colors of the same gemstone can often have different metaphysical abilities attributed to them: pink diamonds are said to increase creativity and yellow diamonds to promote thoughtfulness.

★Metaphysical Properties in the West and the East

In Western societies, the most commonly seen use of metaphysical properties are birthstones.
The 12 traditional birthstones became attached to individual zodiac signs due to their commonly believed metaphysical properties. Each stone was thought to strengthen a desirable characteristic within a particular zodiac sign. For example, peridot is the gemstone of August and the Western zodiac sign Leo. Leos have historically been considered strong-minded leaders and peridot is reputed to enhance confidence, patience and clarity of thought--ideal traits in a leader!
Meanwhile, in Eastern societies, gemstones were assigned to different chakras or chi points of the body. These were considered to be focal points for physical or spiritual energy. In these traditions, different gemstones were used to strengthen weaknesses within a person's body, mind and spirit to create a balanced being. If someone had fallen into lassitude, then citrine would be placed on their naval to open the flow of energy there and make them more active!

★Diamond Anniversaries and Other Historical Uses

These days, gemstones are frequently used to honor people and commemorate occasions, with their metaphysical properties guiding their use.
Modern engagement rings popularly include diamonds, signifying eternal love. For the same reasons, the diamond is the symbol for the 60th wedding anniversary. But the diamond wasn't always the dominant symbol of love it is now. In Victorian times, engagement rings and other women's jewelry featured red garnet instead, because garnet was considered a stone promoting love and fidelity.
Most gemstones have long histories of metaphysical use. Some of the lore is still in use today, adapted to modern times. In ancient Greece and Rome, the grape-colored amethyst was believed to be able to promote sobriety and ward off intoxication. Colorless diamonds have a long history of use in Hindu and Buddhist yoga traditions to enhance the connection between the mind and the body. Modernly, amazonite is believed to absorb electromagnetism from computers and cell phones, while Vesuvianite is said to promote patriotism.

★Healing with Gemstones

There are a number of practitioners who draw on the metaphysical properties of natural gemstones and use them for healing physical, emotional and spiritual problems. These healers include both modern techniques such as Reiki and traditional culture methods, tending to use gemstones in similar ways. Stones are held to or placed over the afflicted area or on the appropriate chakra.
Then the practitioner summons healing energy to the area, which they believe is focused and purified by passing through the natural stone. Crystal users frequently state that the crystals must be natural materials which have not had any enhancements (such as heating or dyeing) to work. In addition, some massage therapists incorporate gemstone or crystal forms into their massage treatments, tapping into nerve centers or chi lines.

Treated, Heated and Man-made Crystals
By Stephanie Arnold

As you continue along your crystal journey, you have probably come across some crystals at one time or another that were created in a lab or treated in some way. At first you may have been surprised, but after looking into it further you may have discovered that there are many stones and crystals that have been altered from their natural state. While this is often done to enhance the appearance of the crystal, you may have been wondering what effect, if any, this will have on the energy it emits and on how it is used for healing.

One of the most common ways that crystals are modified is their color. Some crystals are dyed to produce an unnatural color in the crystal, such as pink, royal blue and teal, which is usually seen in Agate or Quartz. These are the most obvious to appear that their color has been altered. Other color changes in the crystals are not so apparent. Lapis Lazuli is often dyed blue to make the color more consistent. This also applies to most Black Onyx, which naturally tends to have gray streaks and is dyed black. Turquenite is the name given to white Howlite that has been dyed a turquoise blue. Faceted gemstones are also commonly colored to make them more visually appealing. Some other commonly dyed crystals are Malachite, Rhodonite, Jasper, Turquoise, Agate and Aventurine. These color-altered crystals still retain the healing qualities of the original crystal, but will also take on the healing properties of the new color it has become.

Another way the color of a crystal can be modified is by either heat-treating them or by irradiation. Irradiation is done by exposing the crystal to gamma radiation, neutron bombardment or ionization and is used to make Smokey Quartz a consistent dark brown color. Heat treated crystals are heated with chemicals to alter the coloring of the crystal. A lot of Citrine available on the market is actually heat treated Amethyst. You can easily identify these Citrine crystals by their bright, golden yellow coloring in comparison to the pale yellow or greenish yellow of natural Citrine. Red Tiger Eye is created by heating Golden Tiger Eye. Some other commonly heated crystals are Tanzanite, Tourmaline, Fluorite, Aquamarine and Amethyst. Heated and irradiated crystals also still retain their inherent healing properties. If the crystal changes color during the process, it will also adopt the properties of the new color, which can be used in color therapy and when working with the Chakras.

Another method of changing the color of crystals in a lab is by super-heating the crystals and then infusing the surface with vaporized metals that create a permanent coloration on the surface of the crystal. This process is used to convert Clear Quartz into Aura Quartz including Aqua Aura, Indigo Aura, Tangerine Aura, Angel Aura and Champagne Aura. The color of the crystal is determined by the metal(s) used. This process of enhancing crystals not only combines the metaphysical properties of the metal with Clear Quartz to create high vibrational healing crystals, but the Aura Quartz also has unique healing properties of its own.

Crystals that typically have cracks and fissures on their surface in their natural form are sometimes filled to enhance the appearance. This is done by adding wax, glass or another substance to the crystal to fill in the imperfections and create a smoother surface. Some crystals that have been modified this way before are Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald. Filling crystals only changes the look and color. The healing properties of filled crystals are the same as before the modification.

Other crystals are entirely created in a lab. Bismuth is one example of a man-made crystal that is created in a laboratory from a mineral and “grown” into a complex rhombohedral crystal structure that has a beautiful rainbow of colors. Goldstone is a combination of glass and metal flakes, which both impact the healing properties of the stone. The type of metal/mineral used determines the color of the Goldstone: red is from copper, blue is from cobalt, green is from chromium oxide, and purple is from manganese. Both Goldstone and Bismuth are powerful and helpful healing crystals, despite the fact that they are man-made. Bismuth can assist with feelings of isolation and can help you through a transformation. Goldstone is a stone of ambition and can help you to achieve your goals. Goldstone also stabilizes the emotions and can be useful for arthritis pain.

Crystal healing is a great way to connect with all the Earth’s energies and her amazing crystal creations. It’s important not to overlook the heated, treated and man-made crystal companions too, even though they have been modified. While not all crystals are sold in their beautiful natural state, these lab enhanced crystals have a place in the world of crystal healing and are useful additions to your “crystal toolbox”.

★ ★★ GEMSTONE ELIXERS ★★★
From http://www.CrystalsAndJewelry.com

I've been asked many times about whether a certain stone is safe for making conventional gem elixirs, gem waters, massage oils, or other internal or absorbent uses. While any stone can be potentially harmful for fumes, or dust, here is some information on stones that are known to be toxic in certain situations.

While some of these minerals are micronutrients, such as copper, which we need to survive, they might also be extremely toxic in larger amounts than required by the body. Also, many of them are only harmful in certain situations -- say the raw stone might be, but one with a high polish might not.

Please be aware that this is an partial list, as I don't know all the possible toxicity information. Some I learned in college, from crystal experts, or from books. Before using any stone or crystal for elixirs or waters, you should personally make sure that it's safe by consulting a mineralogist, healthcare specialist, or a geological professional. If in doubt, make your elixirs using the indirect method, and be sure to wash your hands after handling it.

Types of stones that are typically toxic to ingest are minerals/ metals containing copper, lead, arsenic, cadmium, aluminum, barium, mercury, zinc, or other poisonous / toxic substances. These substances are often what give a stone its characteristic coloring or shape. Great to look at, great to hold, but not great to put in the body. Where I have information on it, I've noted the toxic material that is or may be in the stone.

Consult a mineralogist or geological professional if you are not sure about a particular stone.

I recommend avoiding and not making conventional gem elixirs, gem waters, massage oils, or other consumables with these stones. The guidelines below can help you and those you know stay safe.

Do not make conventional, direct gemstone elixirs, gem waters, massage oils of any stone containing metal (lead, copper, etc.) Use an indirect method instead.
FYI: Polished stones are less likely to allow elixirs, etc. to leach any potentially hazardous materials. Rough stones are most likely.
In general, almost all blue and green stones, especially brightly colored ones, contain copper and/or arsenic and are potentially unsafe to use for conventional gem elixirs, etc.
Shiny, metallic stones should be avoided.
Don't handle stones containing arsenic, such as realgar, or mercury, such as cinnabar without protective gloves. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling them. These stones are extremely toxic.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling potentially toxic stones.
Keep all potentially harmful stones (including small, bite-sized stones that aren't necessarily toxic but can cause choking hazards!) out of reach of children for safety.
You may find contradictory information elsewhere as to the potential hazards of crystals. I recommend being cautious, though, and using indirect methods for making elixirs and other consumables unless you're absolutely certain of what you're doing. To be on the safe side, consider these stones, and any stones you don't know for sure about, to be toxic to eat, drink, or otherwise consume.

★SWAROVSKI - How to Ensure You are Getting the Real Thing

The Swarovski company creates its glass with a special compound that imitators cannot duplicate. This special compound creates the incredible brilliance of their product. The delicate color palette is another quality that sets Swarovski crystal components apart from others.
With so many crystal beads and components out there, how can you tell if the crystal you are purchasing is actually a Swarovski crystal component....or an imitation?
Here are some tips that can help you determine which crystals are genuine:
Swarovski crystals are perfectly uniform. Since they are machine cut, each crystal is the same. This means that the height, width and slope are consistent. A hand polished imitator bead will not have as uniform a cut. You may also notice different dimensions from bead to bead.
Swarovski uses machinery that precisely cuts each crystal. According to Swarovski, "cutting hard materials such as crystal and gems, in such a way that they have a hundred identical facets in several directions, is a very complicated task; each direction of the reflected light must first be calculated by computer, then this has to be simulated in 3D, optimized and finally converted into control programs for complex machinery." This is just part of the technology that gives Swarovski crystals their unbelievable flash.
The precision cutting of Swarovski machinery allows each crystal to have its facet juncture "pointing up." This means the facet junctures all meet at precisely the same point. This is a similar aspect of diamond faceting. See the illustration above.
AB finish Swarovski crystals have a uniform surface luster. There are no swirling marks from the vacuum process that produces the AB finish, and generally there are no scratches. The "imitations" often have scratches, swirl marks ("oily" looking surface). Some of these imperfections, in the "imposters," have to do with the lower quality of the finish. See the illustration above.
When you look inside the crystal, you will see no bubbles. If you see any bubbles, you know immediately that it is a fake.
Because of its special glass compounds, Swarovski crystal will out-sparkle a bead of lesser quality when placed in a side-by-side comparison.

JEWELRY CARE

ALL jewelry tarnishes (turns black /dulls/ oxidizes) regardless of how expensive (or inexpensive) the piece may be.
In addition to tarnishing, all plated costume jewelry will fade or change color. This is not rust, and is still safe to wear.

★ Aim to minimize contact between your skin and the jewelry
(wear over your clothes etc)
★ Do not wear your jewelry to bed, in the shower, at the beach/pool etc
★ Keep away from perfumes and body lotions, especially sunscreen
★ Use a dry jewelry polishing cloth to shine and clean after each wear.
(Jewelry cloths are fairly inexpensive and last for years)
★ Store away from sunlight, dampness and open air.
Best way to store them is in the re-sealable baggie they come packaged in.

• TIBETAN SILVER is a metal alloy made of zinc, copper and tin. It is lead free and nickel free and will be OK for most people with sensitive skin.

• PEWTER is a soft metal alloy, mostly tin with a bit of copper, that has a darker 'antique silver' look. It will bend with a bit of force.

• RHODIUM PLATED: Chrome-like, precious metal with high shine. Most 'white gold' is rhodium plated.

• STEEL AND STAINLESS STEEL chains do have a small nickel content, avoid products with this metal if you have any nickel or metal allergies.

• BRASS AND BRONZE
Brass is made of copper and zinc. Bronze is made of copper and tin. These are nickel-free.
